Abstract

Matching a young man's personal characteristics with the requirements and prerequisites of a vocation is part of career choice. This matching plays a huge role in a person's life since the ideal matches lead to the greatest successes, as well as serenity and pleasure for everybody. Making a profession decision proves to be an important step for school pupils, particularly for those who are about to graduate, pursue higher education, and enroll in universities. The many career options offered in the three branches of the Defense services must be researched before choosing one as a vocation. It is typically observed that fewer female students pick this field. In light of this, the researcher decided it was necessary to carry out this study in order to compare the variables influencing respondents' decisions to join the Defence services as a profession. Students in senior secondary schools participated in the study. The findings showed that although female respondents are more influenced by the patriotic element while choosing a profession in the defence forces, male respondents are more influenced by the ambitious and adventurous factor, opportunities factor, employment advantages factor, and meritocracy factor.
