Abstract

The paper focuses upon finding the level of aspiration of senior secondary school students of the age group of 15-18 years in different types of schools. The data were collected from the students of government schools, private schools and Navodaya Vidyalayas selected through stratified random sampling. The results of the study indicated that types of school attended by the students had no impact on the goal discrepancy score (GDS) and number of times the goal reach scores (NTRS), but the students studying in different types of schools differed significantly in their attainment discrepancy scores (ADS). The students studying in Navodaya Vidyalayas showed significantly higher mean of attainment discrepancy scores (ADS) than their counterparts in government schools. The other pairs of comparison i.e. government schools vs. public schools and public schools vs. Navodaya Vidyalayas did not differ significantly in attainment discrepancy scores.
